Whereas it appears to me from your Letter August 6, 1775, that in pursuance of a requisition from General [Guy] Carleton for that purpose, you have proceeded to Montreal in his Majesty's Brig under your Command to co-operate with his Majs Land forces in the Defence of the Province: You are hereby required and directed to remain on that Service as long as Governor Carleton, or the Commanding Officer at Quebec for the time being, shall think necessary for the purpose aforementioned, or until you receive my further Orders; And you are to afford every Assistance in your Power for the King's Service.
