River rose higher then, was ever known ー and large Breaches were then, made, in all the Mill Dams in these parts ー It is said that several Wharfs & Store-Houses at Norfolk, are totally demolished; that the Mercury Man of War there, is now lying in two feet water,3 and that many ships & County Craft are much damaged ー It began to rain on tuesday the 29th day of last month [August] & continued raining till sunday morn about 4 oClock ー I refer you to the several provincial Gazettes [for ar]ticles of news inserted therein ー
