A letter from St. John's, Antigua, dated Oct. 14, says, "The Captain of a frigate stationed here,1 going past Martinico, where an English vessel lay, taking in arms for the Americans, went and ordered them to deliver them up to him, but the commander of the Martinico Fort, told him if he did not instantly sail he would sink him: He immediately sailed here and told the Admiral, who being sensible of his ill conduct in going into the French harbour to demand the arms, acquainted him he should have waited for the vessel at sea, and made a prize of her; and yesterday a schooner with some French Officers [came here] to know the reason for such a conduct,2 [but as] yet we have not heard what answer has been given them."
