The Secretary has just now informed me that your Honours have thought fit to appoint me judge of a court to try the justice of the capture of vessels infesting the sea coast of America, which shall be brought into the counties of Suffolk, Middlesex or Essex; and that my answer is requested this morning: ー Your Honours will please to accept my thanks for the appointment ー with an assurance that I have no disposition to refuse an office however hazardous or difficult, that is judged necessary for the public good, & which the judiciary, in whose power it is to make or advise an appointm,ent, & to whom I am personally well known, think me qualified to discharge. I am, may it please your Honours [&c.]
