In answer to your Letter of the [blank] instant, I have examin'd Mr John Jarrat Masters Mate of His Majesty's Ship Actaeon under my Command (the Person whom I apprehend my Lord Sandwich means, the other Mate not having been on the Coast of America) respecting his knowledge of that Coast ー

I beg you would be pleased to acquaint His Lordship that he appears to me to be well acquainted with the Coast from Philadelphia to Georgia, to having, in quality of Mate, and Master of Merchant Ships, been upon it seven Years
