1. Champlin Papers, RIHS. This is one of a number of printed forms supplied the captains of British men-of-war to requisition provisions from the victualing agents in the various American ports. Handwritten insertions appear in italics. It is reproduced here as the earliest extant for the Revolutionary War period. There were numerous variations, and in many cases, having exhausted their supply of forms, the captains or pursers of His Majesty's Ships made their wants known to the agents by letter. The receipt for this particular requisition (also a printed form) will be found under date of January 21, 1775.
