This is to certify that David Mathews, before whom the annexed Deposition of Joseph Woolcombe was taken in my presence, is one of His Majesty's Justices assigned to keep the peace in & for the City & County of New York, and duly authorized & impowered to take the Deposition of persons voluntarily making the same before him, and that all due Faith and Credit is, and ought to be, given to depositions so taken & attested.
In Testimony whereof I have herewith set my Hand and Caused the Great Seal of the province of New York to be affixed on Board the Ship Dutchess of Gordon, in New York Harbour the Twenty ninth Day of January in the Sixteenth Year of His Majesty's Reign.
