From Norfolk we learn, that lord Dunmore seized last tuesday a fine new ship lately launched, frigate built, and pierced for 22 guns, belonging to Eilbeck, Ross & co. of that place, although the owners represented to him the very great loss they should sustain thereby, upwards of 700 hhds of tobacco being engaged for her, which they expected daily; but his lordship (as usual) was inexorable, and said he wanted three or four more ships for the king's service! [The committee of Norfolk have forbid the owners to furnish his lordship with the sails and rigging bekonging to the ship.]
He has likewise seized a brig belonging to mr. Daniel Barraud, merchant in Norfolk; for the same pious intent, no doubt!
Capt. [John] M'Cartney, of the Mercury, notwithstanding the very civil treatment he has met with since his arrival in Virginia, both at York and Norfolk, lately took it into his head to write a very insolent letter to the mayor of Norfolk, concerning town meetings, &c. which had a suitable reply.
