Memo

For preserving greater Regularity in the Order of Sailing appointed for the Fleet;² it has been the Admiral's Intention, when working to Wind­ ward, that the Ships of War stationed on the Starboard Quarter in the Form of Sailing delivered, should keep to the Westward and Northward of the Fleet; And those stationed on the Larboard Quarter, to the Eastward and Southward thereof, under the same Circumstances: In Order to prevent the necessity for carrying the Press of Sail which would be otherwise requisite on every Change of Tack, for the Ships before to Leeward to gain a Station to Windward of the Fleet, as appears to be the Sense in which the Instructions on this Head have been hitherto understood.
