[Boston] Friday September 12th 1777
Petition of Samuel Elliott junior Agent of the State of Connecticut setting forth That one Antonio Gnospelius a Native of Sweeden & who never was a Subject of Great Brittain was taken on his Passage from Liver pool to Jamaica & bro't into this State — That he entered as an Marine on board the Brig Defence in the service of the State of Connecticut & has remained on board & done his Duty to the Acceptance of the Officers — That he is confined onboard the Guard Ship as a Prisoner of War praying that he may be released & not accounted a Prisoner of War
Ordered that the Commissary of Prisoners be & he hereby is directed to liberate Antonio Gnosnelius a Prisoner on board the Guard Ship & deliver him to Capt Smedley Commander of a Brig belonging to the State of Connecticut that he may return to his Duty on board said Brig —
