Addressed at foot of letter: “John Chaloner Esq^r/D^y Com^y Gen^l/Provisions.” There is a note in a different hand written on the letter just above the address that reads: “1000 Bbs pork.” As seen at Chaloner and White to Gerard, 11 Aug., below, it was the quantity of pork that the firm provided the French fleet.
