We have the Honor of inclosing to Your Excellency a Protest [in] relation to one of our Vessels,1 which was made prize of by the English, when under the protection of the French Coast. As they have always reclaimed the prizes made by our Cruisers in such Circumstances, We hope your Excellency will think it just, that We should dedammaged2 out of their Effects in this Kingdom.
