Entrance, Cow Neck Bay E ½ S 2½ miles—off Loyd's beech ½ Cable Dist—[Long Island] AM. weighed & rowed out of Loyds Neck harbor. anchored with the Best bower in 4 fm. Wr. veered to 1/3 of a Cable—Exercised Great Guns & small arms Loyd's Head1 NNW 1½ Miles Calm the first Pt. with fair Wr. middle & latter light airs & variable At 5 AM. [PM] weighed & rowed out of the Bay,2 anchored off the Beech in 4 fm. Wr. at 9 P.M. anchored here H:M: Brigg Halifax & 2 tenders,3 at ½ past 10 P.M. weighed & made Sl. received on board 26. marines.
