Docketed: “Comtee. of Commerce/May 28. 1778/ansd. July 29/came by the Saratoga/Captn. Read.” The last part of the docketing is clearly an error. The docketer, John Adams, apparently mistook this letter for one of those that arrived at Nantes on 3 July on board the letter of marque brigantine Saratoga, Capt. Alexander Murray, which had come from Baltimore.
