Your favour of the 11th Ulto I've recd with the inclos'd demands, on [Thomas] Palmer (who is to sea) and Pitman who I believe is at home, shall endeavour to get the Money and when got shall forward it, I am very happy you are so well fortifyed, and that the Government is in such Order, and under the direction, of so worthy a chief Magistrate for whom I have the greatest Friendship and Regard; not only for his Reagrd to his Country, and Abilities as a Statesman, but as an Honest Man, the Noblest Work of God ー (I mean his Excellency. ー John Rutledge Esqr) Excuse haste ー Your [&c.]
