[Wilmington] Saturday June 22d 1776.
Resolved, That Courts of Justice for hearing and determining Maritime Matters be and hereby are established at the Ports of Edenton Bath New Bern and Wilmington; and that the following Persons be appointed Judges of the said Courts to wit Jasper Charlton Esquire for the port of Edenton Christopher Neale Esquire, for the port of New Bern and Thomas Respess junior Esquire for the port of Bath and that Commissions issue accordingly.
Resolved That the Judges of the said Courts of Admiralty be directed to appoint one Register and Martial at each of the said Ports, and all other Officers necessary for the purpose of carrying into Execution the determination and decrees of said Courts.
