[Carpenters Hall, Philadelphia] Sunday, June 23, 1776.
Resolved, unanimously, That messieurs [John] Bayard, [Mark] Bird and [Jonathan B.] Smith, be appointed a committee to wait upon the chairman of the committee of safety, and desire a copy of all orders given to captain Samuel Davidson, since his appointment as principal commander of the navy of this province, to be laid before this conference.
Resolved, unanimously, That it be recommended to commodere Samuel Davidson and to the captains of the row-gallies, &c., to forbear to take any steps which may involve the fleet in confusion, and that they wait the result of an interview which this conference intend to propose to the committee of safety, and that messrs. [Joseph] Blewer, [Thomas] Levis, [Mark] Bird, [Robert] Loller and [Dr. John] Calhoon, be a committee to wait on those gentlemen on board their vessels to-morrow morning.
