Providence, June 24th, 1776.
[Extract]
Your letter of the 14th of May respecting the cannon came to hand on the 17th. On the 18th Messrs. Levi Hollingsworth and Thomas Richardson came to this town with an order of Congress, for 20 of them to be transported to Philadelphia; and on the 20th I set out on my journey; and when I returned I found here a resolution of Congress that six only should be taken from this Colony, which have accordingly been delivered on board the Fly.
