The Petishon of William Tupper of Machias in the County of Lincoln agent for the Committee of Correspondence, Inspection & Safety Humbly Sheweth that Your Petishoner Desires the Direction of your Honers what way and Manner Aught to be taken to bring forward the Tryall of the Sloops Unity & Polley the Schooners Margueritta Diligent, and Satmeqush, all which ware taken Since the Nineteenth of Aprill 1775 in Machias Harbor by the Inhabitants there of with the assistance of Some Seamen that was present and of Neighbors Called in for that purpose.
Your Petishoner makes this applycation to your Honers mor pertickelerly as two of the Said Vesails are Imployed in the Servise of the Colony
Also your Petishoner informes your Honers That the Said Committee have Discovered a Dischar[ge] of a Mortgage which Ichabod Jones Made to Jonathan Longfellow Esqr on the Seventh Day of July Last past, and, the Consideration Given to obtain the Discharge was a Note of hand which is Not yeat payd Nor be Come payable the Note is for £85 or £86. Some Shillings &c: With Interest and your Petishoner Desires your Honers Directions on the Said Discharge as it was made after the Said Ichabod Jones fled. And your Petishoner [as in duty bound &c.]
