[Williamsburg] Thursday July 18th 1776.
The Board took under consideration the Invitation, prepared by the Commissioners of the Navy, from the Commonwealth of Virginia to their Brethern who are sons of Liberty & Seamen to engage in the Defence of the Liberties of America containing an agreement between the Captains of Vessels of War fitted out at the expense of this Commonwealth, & the several Seamen engaging to serve therein; which was read and approved of; And it is ordered that the public Printer strike off one hundred Copies of the Same.
A Warrant from the Navy Board in favour of Banister Howe for thirty pounds for the use of Captain [Robert] Tompkins for furnishing necessaries for the Henry Galley, was presented, countersigned by the President, and ordered to be registered.
A Warrant, from the Navy Board in favour of Adam Jeffries for fifteen pounds for furnishing the Cruiser Commanded by Captain Deane2 with necessaries, was presented countersigned by the President; and ordered to be registered.
