Your fav[or] of the 5th Inst. is before [me], am glad that Cap Thomson 2 has his Commission; we did sometime since send out recruiting parties but it answered no purpose, the expences of recruiting Men must be allowed, have given not anything for Travelling expences to those who Inlist I have little light Canvas but what is not wanted here is ordered to be made into Tents for the Northem Army (they are now makeing & will be sent off next week as P order) I think it best that Slops should be purchased & delivered the Ship under the orders of the Capt or may be supplied by the Capt Your [&c.]
