You are hereby required and directed to give Directions to the Captains and Commanders of his Majs Ships and Vessels under your Command to procure all the Pilots they can for North and South Carolina, Virginia, the River Delaware, New York and Hudsons River, Long Island Sound, Rhode Island, and Nantucket Shoals, and to bear them on a supernumerary List for Victuals only until further Order; And you are to make Return to me at all Opportunitites of the names and qualifications of Pilots that shall be so raised.
