May it please your Excellency
Having done the duty of a Subject in the detection & discovery of Persons concerned in fraudulently taken away the property of divers Merchants I claim no merit more than Honesty ー I now Sir make you a tender of my best Services to the further preservation of said Goods and the property on board the Eliwbeth under the care of Mr [Crean] Brush in case your Excellency should see cause to appoint any One to the same ー I have served my term to that way of Life and in regard to my reputation it is well known to Major Sheriff, Mr Paxton & every Gentleman of the Town of Boston If Sir you should require any Security I make no doubt I can find the same for my fidelity I am Your Excellency's [&c.]
