Sir,
You will please to put one bbl of New England Rum, on Board each of the Transports, which carry the troops to New York-you will furnish each Regt with Six days provisions except those of fresh Beef, which is supplied by Capt Keye, for the Passage, which should be entire when they sail, so that should they be detained in port for any number of Days they must continue to Draw Dayly allowances, you will also furnish each Vessell with 12 Pounds of Candles, in Case the provisions should fall short on the Passage you will please to direct the Masters of the Transports to supply the Troops out of the Provisions belonging to the Commissary Genl which are on Board takeing a Receipt from the Commanding officer of the Troops on board such Transport ー I am Sr with respect [&c.]
