At Anchor abreast of the Town ー [New York] ½ past 5 A M. the Admiral made the Signl for the Renown, Repulse and Pearl to Weigh ー do they Weighed and run up North River a heavy Cannonading from the Batteries on both Sides the river, which was re. turned by the Ships ー at 11 a very heavy fire with Small Arms over at the Town, which we suppose to be on Landing of our Troops.ー ½ past 2 P M. the Rebels struck their Colours at the Fort in New York ー ½ past 4 English Colours were hoisted there ー fired 4 Nine Pounders at the Merchant Boats that attempted to Land ー at 6 Came on board an Order from the Admiral to slip the sml Bower ー Do Shipt and hove up the Best ー ½ past 7 Anchd abreast of Newyork Fortー
