Gentlemen
I have this moment received a Line by Express from Gen: Gates he is in the Greatest distress for the Cordage Mentioned In the Inclosed list not a fathom of It is to be had In this place I must therefore Intreat you to Send It by the bearer who goes Express for It, the row Gallies which are the Greatest Strength of our Naval force on the lake cannot be Equipp[ed] unless we are furnished with the Cordage I am Gentlemen &c
