At a Meeting of the Governor and Council of Safety, [Hartford] December 14th, 1776.
Voted, That Mr. N athll Shaw junr be and he is hereby authorized and desired to draw a letter of credit in favour of the captain or commander of the ship Oliver Cromwell, to be made use of to obtain necessary repairs or supplies for said ship in any foreign port where she may fall; and the said Mr. Shaw shall be indemnified by this State against all damage that may accrue to him by means thereof.
