Gentn,
Capt. [George] Cook, Commander of the Maryland Ship-of-War Defence, is the bearer of this Note, he came up with upwards of 70 men to assist in defence of this City, as the Gondolos are going on Service he offers to go in them as a reinforcement, & if need be at the place of action he and his men will assist the artillery. I doubt not this offer will be acceptable, & if so, the Council will give their officers suitable directions. I have the honour to be Gentn, [&c.]
