Sir,
I am directed by his Honor Gen! Putnam, to desire that you will exert yourself to the utmost of your Power in fixing & bringing down with all possible Expedition to the Chain at this Place, the Continental Frigate under your Command, where you will receive Guns for her & such additional Men as you may want to Man her — His Excellency Genl Washington expects the Frigates and Gallies are already at that Station which renders us more anxious for their Speedy Arival. I am with Esteem [&c.]
