In Congress. [Charleston] Friday, November 24, 1775.
Mr. [John] Edwards from the Committee for fitting out the ship Prosper, reported, that they had tendered to Capt. Smith, the appraised value of the said ship, and required an assignment of the said ship and register: That Capt. Smith had refused to receive the sum tendered to him, or to execute an assignment, ー but that he had delivered up the register, (now put into the hands of Mr. President,) and that they had thereupon returned the money into the treasury.
The said Committee at the same time recommending, that, in order to enable Capt. Smith to procure necessaries and a passage, the sum of two hundred and forty-five pounds currency be issued from the treasury, and paid to him.
Ordered, That Mr. President do issue his warrant for the payment of the said sum to Capt. Smith.
And a warrant was issued accordingly.
