Moored in Elizabeth River Virginia. Fine pleasant weather, at 6 in the morning weighed and made Sail up Elizabeth River, the Kingsfisher in Company, at ½ past 11 She Anchored by Signal, and at Noon Anchored with the Best Bower in 4 fathoms, about one Mile Below Norfolk, found her[e] the Liverpool and Otter Several Transport Vessels, and a great many others, with the inhabitants of Norfolk before it was burnt, under the protection of the Ships, and his Excellency the Earl of Dunmore, the Governor: Gave the Purser an order to Supply the Kingsfisher with Provisions. Ditto weather In the afternoon moored Ship, at 4 Ordered alongside a Sloop which I named the Lord Howe, and began to fit her out for a Tender.
