Do [Sandy Hook] N 68 Wt Distce. 54 Leags 2 Miles First & Middle parts a heavy Gale & Great Sea, latter more Modte at 4 PM set the Main Sail. at 5 found that we took in a great Quantity of Water at the Fire ports, at 6 found a great Quantity of Water in the fore part of the Ship & both Pumps Choak’d Do. fird a gun & made Sigl. of Distress to the Pearl, at 10 lost sight of her Do Carried a stern light ½ past the Pearl bore down under our Lee & Capt Lindsey said he would send a boat to our assistance as soon as the Gale abated, at 11 Lost sight of her,
