Whereas it is intended that the Transport Vessels mentioned in the Margin[*] having on board 44 7 German Recruits and also a Detachment of His Majesty's British Troops consisting of Six Officers and Sixty Private destined for the several Regiments of Foot serving under the Command of General Carleton in Canada, shall proceed to Quebec in the River St Lawrence, under Convoy of the Ship you command: You are hereby required and directed to take them under your Convoy, and see them safe to Quebec when you proceed thither And it being intended that the Transports having on board the Regiment and Artillery of the Prince of Waldeck which you were directed by our Orders of the 19th instant, to take under your Convoy shall proceed under Convoy of Captain [Charles] Fielding of His Majesty's Ship the Diamond, to join the Army under the command of General Howe, You are to leave them to proceed under the Convoy of Captain Fielding accordingly.
