Sir,
As there is Reason to apprehend the Rebels have some Intention against the Kings Ships in this Harbour, from the number of Whale Boats that have appeared on different parts for some nights past, attended with some Sloops which may be fitted as fire Vessels; I think it my Duty to acquaint you that his Majs. Ship under my Command is in a very weak state of Defence, for want of men, from the number which are lent out of her upon different Services, several sick on board, and others at the Hospital.
