At Single Anchor Sandy Hook Light House E½So. Distance 1½ Mile Modt. and Cloudy Weatr. PM an Officer and 20 Men of the 23d Regiment came on board as Volunteers.1 at 6 PM the Admiral made the Signal to prepare to Sail.

1. Also known as the Royal Welch Fusiliers, the 23rd Regiment volunteered to serve as marines throughout the fleet because their honorary regimental colonel was Sir William Howe.
