1. HMS Raisonable, Capt. Thomas Fitzherbert, commanding, was part of Capt. Sir George Collier's squadron stationed at Halifax, Nova Scotia. By "us," Duncan refers to the fleet of Vice Admiral Viscount Howe, which was then anchored at Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
